Finding Dory can’t be slowed down, it managed to once again take the number one spot at the box office over the weekend. Independence Day: Resurgence did take the number two spot, but only made about $41 million. Considering the movie cost $165 million that is an extremely poor opening weekend. Fox has come forward saying that they are not too worried, as it has not completely open world wide, and as long as it remains consistent they will be fine. While the movie might make enough in the long run, for a summer blockbuster to preform so poorly opening weekend is not a good thing.
Meanwhile The Shallows had a fairly successful opening weekend. It was a smaller budget thrill costing $17 million, and it made just shy of that. Free State of Jones performed very poorly just barely making it into the top five.
